As my small family grows my golf time diminishes, so i thought i would look at some more forgiving irons. Having user forged irons for last 10 or more years i didn’t want to loose that feel of a well stuck golf shot.

A local shop said try the Titleist AP2 irons, I found these irons a little hard on the face and the head felt light,

Then i moved onto to taylormade, i wanted to try the R7 TP but was told they were discontinued but the Tour Preferred were the new irons.
I tried these along side my current Ben Hogan FTX irons and the Titleist AP2 irons, I was pleasantly surprised by the Taylormade irons, they were very powerfull even with the heavy true Temper DGS300 shaft and when i hit one off the toe i still got a good distance in the shot, the feel is not far off forged irons either They look good as well with the thin top line and the dull steel looks. Very nice. So much so that i have ordered a set but with lighter shafts.

I’ve played Titleist 990-B’s for the last 8-9 years. I found that these were difficult to stay on top of unless I practiced regularly. Because I don’t want to work as hard at golf, I tried most higher-end players type clubs and settled on the Taylormade Tour Preferred.

They look like a blade at set-up, but do have just enough forgiveness for me. While they are a bit easier to hit, they are also longer in distance. They are at least 1/2 club longer than my previous blades. The TaylorMade Tour Preferred Irons offer a masterful blend of modern technology and classic design.

A classic blade shape provides for a thin topline and shorter blade-length from heel to toe for a clean and compact look at address while the shallow, undercut cavity redistributes weight to the hell and toe pads for increased stability and a solid feel. The tour-configured sole was designed with input from tour professionals to optimize turf interaction for maximum playability. TaylorMade’s patented Inverted Cone Technology provides faster ball speed from a larger portion of the face (a larger sweet-spot) that results in more consistency on off-center hits while the vibration-management cavity badge creates finely-tuned sound and feedback for a soft yet solid feel that’s extremely satisfying.  Some of the pros are playing these now, but the general public has not caught on yet.but they will.
